Positioning, communication system & LinkedIn strategy

August 2026

The starting point

When I met Romain Diaz, Satgana's Founder and CEO, three needs came together:

  • a positioning strong enough to hold in front of LPs
  • a factual read on how investors and LPs actually behave online
  • a system the team could run on its own

Satgana invests across Europe and Africa with a thesis that sets it apart from generalist climate funds. For the next stage of the fund, that thesis needed to be said the same way by everyone: by the founder, by the team, and in front of LPs.

How it was done

Phase 1. Data collection

2,093
climate & impact VC profiles. Who they are, what they publish.
5,314
posts, April to June 2026. The full public output of the ecosystem.
38
European LP targets. Public activity and engagement footprint.
30
portfolio companies and 56 portfolio leaders, mapped and scoped.
521
portfolio posts. What founders and companies actually say.
  • Founder activity export, full public history on LinkedIn.
  • Mirror questionnaires, founder and communications lead, answered separately.
  • Database work: Preqin, PitchBook, GIIN, AVCA, Impact Europe, Altss, FINTRX.

Phase 2. Analysis

  1. I segmented the investor corpus by how people actually behave, not by what they claim to do.
  2. I modelled engagement on medians rather than averages, because a handful of viral posts distort everything else.
  3. I extracted the themes that come up across the whole corpus, mapped which LP targets are publicly active and what they react to, and benchmarked the portfolio against the wider ecosystem.
  4. Every claim in the final documents is tagged as measured, observed, or editorial judgement, so the reader always knows what rests on data and what rests on my reading of it.

Phase 3. Brand platform

This is where the engagement turns. Everything from phases 1 and 2 feeds into a single platform:

  • vision
  • mission
  • positioning
  • values
  • promise
  • personality

The core of it is a proprietary category, defined by two selection criteria that can be checked against any deal, with one person inside the fund who holds the veto. I built it line by line with Romain, and nothing went in that he could not defend himself in front of an LP.

Phase 4. Production

Recommendations

  • 70-page analysis and recommendations document
  • Presentation deck for the annual offsite
  • One-pager for the founder

Usable data

  • LP behaviour report
  • Portfolio behaviour report
  • Investor corpus study

Enablement

  • 3 AI skills, one per team segment, so the team can produce without me

Outcomes

Positioning

Satgana now has a validated brand platform. Everything the fund says from here runs on it, from its own channels to its LP materials.

Category

The category Satgana invests in is now defined as a selection rule rather than a label. Two criteria, both verifiable, with a named owner inside the fund who can say no.

Data assets

The fund keeps three behavioural studies it can re-run whenever it wants:

  • the investor ecosystem
  • its LP targets
  • its own portfolio

Activation

Romain has two target formats, with worked examples ready to publish. (Formats confidential.) The team has seven communication territories, and each one now comes with the right to speak on it publicly, plus five documented post formats.

Adoption

The work was presented at the annual offsite on 10 September 2026 by Satgana's marketing manager. An opt-in programme for the wider team came out of it, which was not part of the original scope: [OPT_IN_RATE]% of the team volunteered.
